Summary of the contracting process

Birmingham City Council is actively seeking tenders for the Birmingham Virtual School Educational Wellbeing Service, aimed at enhancing the educational journeys of children under its care. This tender, falling under the services category, specifically focuses on welfare and counselling services for children and young people. The contract, valued at £800,000, will commence on 3rd September 2026 and span three years with a possible one-year extension contingent on performance and funds. Utilising an open procedure, interested parties are encouraged to submit bids via the Council's e-tendering system by noon on 2nd March 2026. The service will be delivered within the UKG31 region, targeting school transitions and exam support for vulnerable children.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses, particularly those specialising in educational support, welfare services, and counselling for children. Organisations with expertise in managing educational transitions and exam preparedness are well-suited to compete. With quality, social value, and price being key award criteria, businesses can leverage their strengths in delivering impactful and value-driven educational services. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) as well as voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) stand a good chance, especially if they demonstrate a strong track record in similar projects and offer innovative solutions compliant with high standards and safeguarding protocols.
