Summary of the contracting process

The Department for Transport is overseeing a public procurement process related to the "Airport National Policy Statement (ANPS) - Consultancy for supporting activity", situated in London, UK. This process aims to support the ANPS review with an Appraisal of Sustainability (AoS) and other assessments aligned with government obligations on air quality, noise, and climate change. The procurement is managed through an open procedure, initially signposted in October 2025, with the award intended by December 2025. The contract period is expected to commence in mid-December 2025 and potentially extend until early 2027, offering consultancy services within the environmental impact assessment category.

For businesses seeking growth opportunities, this tender presents a chance for consultancy firms with expertise in sustainability appraisals, habitats regulations assessments, and related impact analyses to engage with central government operations. Large firms like AECOM Ltd are involved, indicating potential engagement with larger scale operations, but small and social enterprises are also encouraged due to the selection criteria that highlight expertise in technical assessments. With a focus on contributing to economic growth and compliance with environmental obligations, this initiative could be particularly appealing for businesses specialising in environmental consultancy and public policy support.

Notice Description

On 22 October, the Secretary of State for Transport announced the launch of the promised ANPS review, including undertaking an Appraisal of Sustainability (AoS), alongside a Habitats Regulations Assessment and other necessary technical work.
