Summary of the contracting process

Severn Trent Water Limited, a private utility based in Coventry, is in the planning stage of a tender process for the supply of integral primary and secondary treatment systems. The procurement is focused on goods within the sewerage works equipment and machinery for the treatment of sewage category, with an estimated value of £3,000,000. The project involves the design, assembly, and deployment of modular treatment systems across various sewage treatment works in the UK, set to commence from 28th February 2026 and conclude by 31st March 2030. Interested suppliers are invited to engage and help tailor the procurement strategy, with an engagement milestone scheduled for 5th December 2025.

This tender presents substantial opportunities for businesses specializing in wastewater treatment solutions and equipment manufacturing. Suppliers experienced in modular 'roll on roll off' systems and biological treatment technologies like SAF or MBBR will find this project particularly suited to their expertise. The demand for innovative and customizable solutions for small to medium-sized treatment plants can aid businesses in expanding their market presence and fostering relationships with a significant utility player like Severn Trent Water Limited. The inclusion of a framework agreement also suggests potential for ongoing work and collaboration.

Notice Information

Notice Title

Supply of Integral Primary & Secondary Treatment System(s)

Notice Description

Supply (including design, assembly, supply, delivery and co-commissioning) of an integral modular primary and secondary treatment system(s) to be implemented as sidestream solutions at multiple sewage treatment works (STWs) across AMP8. Severn Trent Water requires integral solutions - primary settlement, biozone/ biological treatment and humus/ final settlement - all to be contained within a singular modular 'roll on roll off' unit - with lifting points for cranage where required. Potential for a limited number of alternative configuration units may be required depending on site requirements - e.g.) biozone only, biozone + humus settlement zone, primary settlement + biozone. The units required are to be deployed at small to medium size treatment works. With the aim being to install an independent side stream to increase the treatment capacity. Allowing for an increase of Flow to Full Treatment (FFT). The flow will be proportionally distributed between the existing assets and modular sidestreams based upon the maximum treatment flow. * Solution can be either SAF or MBBR * Automated sludge removal is to be provided from the humus and primary zones. * Adjusted aeration is to be provided to the biological treatment zone, to allow for optimisation and scouring (as required). * Lamella units are not a preferred settlement process (for primary or humus), due to previous operational issues requiring excessive operational intervention.
