Summary of the contracting process

The University of Lancaster is seeking tenders for the "Furness College Lift Replacement" project, which involves replacing the existing passenger lift at Furness College, Bailrigg, Lancaster, with a new traction MRL installation, inclusive of necessary building and electrical works. The procurement process is at the Tender stage and adopts an open competition format, although it is below the threshold for certain procurement legislations. Interested parties need to submit their tenders via the university's e-tendering portal by 15 January 2026, 10:00 AM. The industry categories relevant to this tender include lift installation and maintenance services. Site visits, which are mandatory for interested tenderers, are scheduled for 11th and 16th December, with flexibility for alternative dates if required.

This tender represents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in lift installations and maintenance, particularly those capable of delivering comprehensive services, from dismantling old infrastructure to implementing new systems. SMEs are encouraged to apply, as the tender is designed to be approachable with a submission process through an accessible e-tendering portal. Interested companies should ideally have experience in handling comparable scale projects and demonstrate efficiency in project delivery and budget management. The contract involves a gross value of £160,000, with potential renewal options offering further business continuity and growth opportunities post-implementation.
