Summary of the contracting process

The Yorkshire Purchasing Organisation (YPO), a public authority in Wakefield, is currently in the planning stage of a procurement process for Material Handling Equipment (MHE). This initiative aims to replace or renew existing equipment before the current contract expires in September 2026. The scope includes short- and long-term hire, servicing, and maintenance of MHE to support safe and efficient operations within YPO's facilities. Interested parties are invited to participate in a Request for Information (RFI) to gather insights for a specification that aligns with industry best practices. The deadline for submitting RFI responses is set for 13 January 2026, with the formal tender expected to be issued in the second quarter of 2026.

This opportunity could provide significant business growth for companies specialising in lifting and handling equipment, particularly those focusing on energy-efficient and sustainable solutions. Suppliers with experience in providing innovative, fit-for-purpose MHE that enhances operational safety and efficiency would be well-suited to compete. As the project has a gross budget of £6,000,000, businesses capable of delivering value-enhancing, low-emission equipment are encouraged to engage in the early market dialogue to influence and position themselves favourably in the upcoming tender process.
