Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process involves the London Borough of Hackney awarding a contract for the "Integrated Children's Occupational Therapy Service" in the community health services category. Located in the Hackney region (UKI41), this procurement stage is in the "Award" phase, with the contract officially awarded on 21st October 2025. Although the procurement falls under the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023, it does not apply to the Public Contracts Regulations 2015. The contract spans from 1st April 2024 to 30th September 2026, including a potential 6-month extension. The procurement method used was a direct award C, conducted without the prior publication of a call for competition.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in community health services, particularly those capable of delivering innovative and integrated service solutions. The contract's focus on occupational therapy for children with permanent disabilities or complex needs requires providers to enhance service quality, promote collaboration, and support service sustainability. Suppliers from regions similar to London's Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, who are familiar with regional needs and capable of fulfilling the contract’s requirements around improving access and reducing health inequalities, would be well-placed to compete and contribute to meaningful social value. With a contract value of £512,230, engagement in this sector may bolster business growth and foster long-term partnerships with regional health authorities.
