Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process is being organised by Swindon Borough Council, aiming at maintenance and remedial works for Liden Brook Bridge located on the Southern Connector Road in Swindon, United Kingdom. The process is currently in the planning stage with a focus on Preliminary Market Engagement (PME), which seeks input from qualified suppliers. The industry category for this process is construction work, underlining the engaging nature of infrastructure development projects. The PME started on 3rd December 2025 and suppliers are invited to respond by submitting their insights via the ProContract tender portal by 9th January 2026, 12:00 noon UK local time. Subsequent tender procedures are anticipated for spring 2026, employing a competitive flexible procedure evaluated on price and quality questions, including interviews.

This tender presents opportunities for businesses specialising in infrastructure and bridge maintenance, particularly those capable of addressing issues like elastomeric bearing movement and settlement concerns, as well as repairs to parapets and safety barriers. Companies with expertise in construction and repair of infrastructure components can find growth opportunities through participation in these projects. The competitive nature of the upcoming tender, being evaluated on both price and quality, suggests that firms with strong technical capabilities and competitive pricing strategies will be well-suited to succeed. Engaging in the pre-market phase will allow such organisations to influence the procurement strategy and position themselves advantageously for the forthcoming tendering activities.
