Summary of the contracting process

The Ministry of Justice is currently in the planning stage for the Prison Operator Services Framework 2 (POSF2), a central government procurement initiative located in London, United Kingdom. With an indicative value of £92 billion, this services procurement focuses on prison operations under the classification of public security, law and order services. Key dates include 19th January 2026 for the start of market engagement sessions, with the tender notice publication scheduled for 23rd February 2026. These 45-minute, one-to-one sessions with suppliers will be conducted via Microsoft Teams from the 20th to the 22nd of January 2026, offering insight into the procurement process and opportunities for suppliers to express interest and capabilities.

This tender provides substantial opportunities for businesses involved in prison services, imprisonment services, and related areas, inviting them to engage with the Ministry of Justice to potentially grow their business by delivering prison operator services. Organisations with experience and capacity in managing new prisons, expiring prison contracts, and services for women and youth can directly benefit from this engagement. The initiative not only opens avenues for existing players in these sectors but also encourages newcomers with innovative solutions and readiness to discuss their capabilities with the Authority in order to secure a place in this major framework agreement.
