Summary of the contracting process

Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council is currently in the planning stage of a procurement process titled "Stockport Day Opportunities". This tender falls under the services category, particularly focusing on health services and social work, and is part of a framework agreement. The project is located in the UK region identified by the code UKD. The procurement process began on 6th January 2026, with a significant milestone scheduled for 22nd January 2026, marking the deadline for soft market engagement. Stockport is seeking to expand its day opportunities framework, with an emphasis on community-based and innovative service models, and the council intends to gather insights through preliminary market engagement before inviting additional providers.

This tender represents a valuable opportunity for businesses, particularly SMEs and VCSEs, that align with Stockport’s vision of providing diverse, flexible, and person-centred day services. Companies specialising in health and social work services that can offer innovative approaches to community-based care will find this opportunity fertile ground for expanding their service offerings. By engaging in this tender process, businesses can align themselves with Stockport’s ambitions to diversify and expand their current service provisions, potentially opening up new pathways for business growth and collaboration within the local government framework.

Notice Information

Notice Title

Stockport Day Opportunities

Notice Description

The revised Day Opportunities Framework in Stockport went live in April 2025 with the intention of offering a diverse range of provision aligned with the Care Act 2014. The ambition was to ensure that services were flexible, meaningful, enjoyable and genuinely person-centred in both design and delivery. However, uptake during the initial launch did not achieve the level of diversification expected. Provision has continued to focus predominantly on traditional building-based services. While these services remain valued and needed, Stockport Council aims to build on this foundation by also expanding into community-based and innovative models that further support residents to live "a gloriously ordinary life." Before reopening the framework to additional providers, the Council proposes undertaking soft market testing-outlined below-to understand the level of interest and capacity among providers who share Stockport's vision for diverse, flexible and person-centred Day Opportunities.
