Summary of the contracting process

Transport for London (TfL) is currently in the planning stage of the Escalator Machined Parts Framework procurement process. This initiative falls under the goods category and targets the acquisition of various machined components and parts essential for the maintenance of TfL’s escalators. Located in the UK, this procurement opportunity invites industry participants to engage early on through a Preliminary Market Engagement exercise. Key dates include a participation declaration by 21st January 2026 and the submission of Market Sounding Questionnaires by 28th January 2026. The engagement, intended to shape the procurement strategy, is open to all qualified suppliers with no selection or evaluation involved at this stage. The procurement value is estimated at approximately £4.8 million, highlighting a significant investment in escalator parts.

This procurement process provides a substantial opportunity for businesses within the escalator manufacturing and component supply industry to expand their reach into public infrastructure projects. It is particularly well-suited for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) capable of delivering high-quality escalator parts such as balustrades, handrails, and drive assemblies. Engagement in this early planning phase allows businesses to contribute insights that may influence the final procurement approach, potentially increasing their chances of success when the formal tender is issued. With a contract period starting on 30th November 2026 and options for renewal, this framework represents a long-term growth opportunity for selected suppliers. Businesses should consider registering on TfL’s sourcing platforms to ensure full participation and visibility in this significant procurement exercise.
