Summary of the contracting process

The NHS Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board is in the procurement stage for the contract titled "Adult and Young Carers and Managing Challenging/Complex Behaviour Service," classified under the health services category in the UKD4 region. This procurement is conducted under a limited method, specifically a Provider Selection Regime (PSR), following the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023. The contract is intended to be awarded to an existing provider, Blackpool Carers Centre Ltd, ensuring continuity in health services from 1st April 2025 to 31st March 2026, with a total contract value of £300,494. The standstill period for representations ends on 2nd February 2026.

This procurement represents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in health services to demonstrate value and innovation in the sector, particularly for those experienced in supporting carers and managing complex behaviours. Though this process involves a direct award to Blackpool Carers Centre Ltd, the tender underscores the importance of service quality and sustainability, which could prompt other businesses to refine their offerings for future opportunities. Businesses with strong capabilities in improving access, reducing inequalities, and providing exceptional social value could considerably benefit from engaging in such procurement processes, even if indirectly, by positioning themselves as competitive future candidates.
