Summary of the contracting process

Staffordshire County Council is currently in the planning stages for a public procurement process for the commissioning of Best Interests Assessments and Community Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLs) services. The contract, falling under the health and social work services category, is expected to cover the region around Staffordshire, UK. The procurement is significant and aims to cater to the needs of the Council and eligible individuals across the specified region. Initial market engagement is open until 27 February 2026, with the tender notice expected to be issued on 8 May 2026. The Council plans to officially open the tender for submissions by 16 June 2026. This procurement process adopts a light-touch regime and is above the threshold for such services.

This tender presents a substantial opportunity for businesses, especially SMEs and voluntary, community, and social enterprises, to expand their service offerings in the public sector. With a start date for the contract expected on 1 October 2026 and a potential extension to March 2029, the procurement can provide sustained opportunities for growth and development. Businesses with expertise in health and social work services, particularly those familiar with statutory frameworks and operational challenges within community care provisions, are well-suited to participate. Engaging with this tender could enhance a company's portfolio by aligning with a significant public authority's strategic goals in social services provision.
