Notice Information
Notice Title
Market Engagement - Site and Asset Inspections (Robotics)
Notice Description
United Utilities operates a large and geographically dispersed portfolio of operational sites across North-West England, including water treatment works, wastewater treatment works, pumping stations, service reservoirs, and associated infrastructure. These sites require regular inspections to assess: * General site condition and housekeeping * Asset health and condition * Compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements * Security and access integrity * Verification that assets, controls, and equipment are in the correct condition and location Currently, inspections are largely carried out by site-based staff and contractors. While effective, this approach can be resource-intensive, exposes staff to operational hazards, and may result in variability in inspection quality, coverage, and data consistency. United Utilities is therefore exploring the potential use of robotic inspection solutions, including autonomous quadruped robots, to support or undertake routine and repeatable site inspections and enhance data quality, safety, and operational resilience.
