Summary of the contracting process

The public procurement process initiated by The Chief Constable for Devon and Cornwall Police is currently in the planning stage. This process, titled "Lift Servicing and Maintenance," is aimed at servicing the lift requirements for five police forces within the South West region of the United Kingdom: Avon and Somerset, Devon and Cornwall, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, and Dorset. With a focus on the services industry, the procurement exercise involves maintaining a wide range of lift assets, including passenger, goods, and platform lifts. The current contract, due to expire in January 2027, prompts this early market engagement phase to identify best practices and innovations. Interested suppliers must express their interest by 20th February 2026 to engage in this pre-market engagement exercise, which serves to compile a final specification in collaboration with a professional lift consultant.

This tender offers tangible opportunities for businesses specialising in lift maintenance and servicing, especially those that can provide innovative solutions and comply with statutory regulations to enhance operational availability and value for money. The procurement process invites participation from Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprises (VCSEs), making it suitable for businesses aiming to expand in the public sector services industry. The anticipated start date of the formal tender process is Spring 2026, targeting a broad consultation with the market to gather insights and input. Participating in this procurement process allows companies to influence the service specifications and establish a foothold in servicing the public sector's lift maintenance requirements across multiple police jurisdictions.
