Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process involves Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust intending to award contracts for Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) services under the Provider Selection Regime (PSR). The focus is on delivering specialised AAC services across Kent and Medway, with a direct award procedure based on the Health Care Services Regulations 2023, which do not incorporate the Public Contracts Regulations 2015. The opportunity targets primarily medical specialist services aiming to improve communication for individuals with disabilities and complex needs in the UKJ (South East England) region. The award notice was published on 11 February 2026, marking the commencement of a standstill period concluding on 24 February 2026, allowing representations by interested providers to reach decision-makers.

This tender is significant for businesses specialising in medical services, particularly those focusing on assistive technologies and support for adults with disabilities. Given the procurement method of limited competition and direct awarding to existing providers, established firms in healthcare delivery with proven track records may find beneficial growth opportunities. Companies can leverage this tender by innovating in quality, value integration, collaboration, service sustainability, and social impact. The contracts, valued collectively over £3.6 million, present substantial potential for enhancing service delivery models in line with the strategic goals of improving patient autonomy and integrating health technologies effectively.
