Summary of the contracting process

Northern Gas Networks Limited (NGN) is actively pursuing the procurement of services under the "Services Beyond the Meter" framework, which falls within the domestic appliances industry category. NGN, based in Colton Leeds, aims to appoint up to twelve suppliers for appliance supply and installation services across several regions of the United Kingdom, including Cumbria, as a dedicated area. This competitive flexible procedure is currently in the tender phase, with the expression of interest deadline set for 10th March 2026 at 17:00. The process involves several stages including the Pre-Qualification Questionnaire (PQQ) stage concluding on 19th March 2026, followed by an invitation to tender with stages spanning from April to June 2026. The service aims to aid vulnerable customers and is driven by NGN's dedication to customer assistance, specifically funded by Ofgem. Potential suppliers must adhere to stringent industry standards such as Gas Safe registration and required certifications.

This procurement offers significant opportunities for businesses, particularly smaller SMEs, to collaborate with NGN in delivering essential services across the UK. The framework agreement structure is tailored to create inclusive opportunities across NGN's network, with suppliers required for supply only or supply and installation of gas appliances. Participation requires compliance with industry regulations and a demonstration of capability through a competitive selection process. Business growth can be fostered through strategic positioning in geographical areas aligned with NGN’s operations, where suppliers will be selected based on criteria including location, price, and availability. This initiative not only ensures broad supplier participation but also enhances responsiveness and quality service delivery for vulnerable populations.
