Summary of the contracting process

The Home Office is undertaking a procurement process titled "National Gas Monitor Support and Training," aimed at providing maintenance and training services for gas monitors used by Border Force officers across Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The procurement is currently in the tender stage, having been initiated on 11th May 2026, with final submissions due by 1st June 2026. The project involves maintaining and providing training for a fleet of gas monitors and is classified under the services industry category, specifically targeting gas-detection equipment. The procurement will be managed electronically through the Home Office's eSourcing Portal, using an open competition method. The contract term is set for two years, with the possibility of two separate one-year extensions upon satisfactory performance.

This tender provides opportunities for businesses skilled in maintaining and training for gas-detection equipment, primarily those equipped with the capabilities to address both planned and reactive maintenance needs throughout the UK. SMEs with a technical workforce capable of delivering these services effectively are well-suited for this opportunity. The potential for contract renewal and the initial contract value of £60,000, extendable to £72,000, represent a lucrative growth avenue for companies in the gas-detection service sector. Businesses that can demonstrate high-quality service delivery and compliance with evaluation criteria have the opportunity to establish a long-term service engagement with the Home Office.
