Summary of the contracting process

The Victoria and Albert Museum has initiated a competitive procurement process to appoint a single supplier for Hard Facilities Management (Hard FM) service delivery across its estate, including locations such as V&A South Kensington, Young V&A, V&A East Storehouse, and the V&A East Museum, which is set to open in April 2026 in East London. The procurement is currently at the tender stage and involves the submission of Pre-Qualification Questionnaires (PQQs) by 20 March 2026. Following a dialogue stage, tenders will be evaluated against award criteria by 27 May 2026, with the contract commencing on 1 April 2027. The contract, executed by Mortice Consulting Limited, focuses on services such as mechanical, electrical, and roof maintenance, and life safety, excluding Soft FM services that are procured separately.

This procurement presents a substantial opportunity for businesses specialising in building and facilities management services, especially those capable of delivering comprehensive Hard FM services. SMEs are encouraged to participate, provided they meet the recommended minimum turnover of £4 million. The estimated contract value is £29,618,604, reflecting the competitive nature and scale of the contract over its potential seven-year duration, inclusive of options and extensions. Businesses with expertise in mechanical and electrical engineering, roof repair, and building installations, particularly those familiar with servicing cultural institutions, will find this tender beneficial for expanding their reach within the public sector.
