Notice Title

Cambridge University Industry Club Membership

Notice Description

We are supporting University of Cambridge Nuclear Energy M.Phil programme through Cambridge University Nuclear Industry Club. We have been supporting this programme for many years. Membership of the Nuclear Industry Club is mainly there to enable continued nuclear research at Cambridge, and development of nuclear skills in the UK. The direct benefits of the membership are limited to reputational benefits and minor research outcomes. Over the last few years we have had three M.Phil students undertaking research for us two on Brexit (Nuclear Industry Impact Assessment and Supply Chain Impact Assessment) and one on Radiopharmaceuticals (re-use of waste - legal and policy background). The quality of research has been good and it has helped us progress these areas providing a direct benefit. If these reports were sought from the supply chain the cost is likely to have been in excess of the membership fees, however while the work done by the students is of high quality it does require level of effort to steer the work and as such can't directly be equated to consultancy support.
