Summary of the contracting process

The NHS Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board is progressing with the procurement process for the provision of "Adult and Young Carers and Managing Challenging Behaviour Service" within the Health Services sector under the Provider Selection Regime. This intention to award notice signifies compliance with the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023, differing from the standard Public Contracts Regulations 2015. The procurement follows a limited method without prior call for competition, reflecting a direct award to an existing provider, Blackpool Carers Centre Ltd. Located in Preston, UKD4, the procurement is in the award stage, with representations from providers due by 18th March 2026. The contract duration is from 1st April 2026 to 31st March 2027, with a prospective contract value of £303,899 still pending finalisation.

This tender presents lucrative opportunities for businesses that specialise in health services and demonstrate strong performance in quality, value, and service sustainability. As the process adheres to a direct award procedure with an existing provider, businesses interested in similar contracts should focus on strengthening their criteria to manage Adult and Young Carers services effectively. Particularly suitable for businesses with an emphasis on collaboration and innovation, the contract's focus on improving access and reducing health inequalities presents a vital opportunity to contribute significantly to community health services. The procurement framework could be insightful for SMEs looking to engage in public sector contracts governed by recent regimes, ensuring robust delivery systems are in place to meet specified standards.
