The Newcastle Upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is currently in the planning stage of a procurement process for Approved Dosimetry Services (ADS) tailored for radiation protection. This tender, which falls under the services industry category, addresses both Assessment of External Dose and Co-ordination & Record-Keeping duties. The procurement process aims to engage suitable providers for a contract period commencing on the 1st of January, 2027, and concluding at the end of December, 2031, with a potential extension to December 2032. Situated in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, United Kingdom, the comprehensive radiation safety services will enhance the operations of the Northern Medical Physics & Clinical Engineering directorate. Potential tenderers should prepare for the upcoming deadline on the 28th of March, 2026, and note the planned market engagement notice published on the 12th of March, 2026, with a future announcement expected on the 1st of June, 2026. The procurement method is a formal tender initiation with an upcoming communication stage in June.

This opportunity offers substantial growth potential for businesses specialising in healthcare radiation safety and dosimetry services. Companies adept at providing dosimeters suitable for rigorous healthcare environments and possessing expertise in maintaining accurate dosimetry records are well-positioned to bid successfully. SMEs are particularly encouraged to compete, given their potential suitability. The contract involves an estimated gross value of £480,000 and requires specialized capabilities in online data management and secure dosimeter transport, which must originate and return to a UK base. Participation in this tender could expand business influence within Northern England's healthcare sector and facilitate connections with both NHS and private healthcare clients, leveraging technical capabilities in radiation protection services.
