Summary of the contracting process

The NHS Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes Integrated Care Board (BLMK ICB) is planning to award a contract for the provision of a Hospital Aftercare Service under the Provider Selection Regime (PSR), governed by the Health Care Services Regulations 2023. The process is currently in the award stage, with the standstill period initiated following this intention notice, allowing representations by providers until midnight on 25th March 2026. The service focuses on health services and falls under the category of services with a central aim to facilitate early patient discharge and improve independent living through non-medical support. The contract, expected to be directly awarded to an existing provider without a prior competitive call, is valued at £198,271 for a term of one year starting on 1st April 2026, covering the region of Bedfordshire, Luton, and Milton Keynes.

This tender presents opportunities for businesses in the healthcare service domain to collaborate and expand their operations within the framework set by BLMK ICB. While the intention is to directly award to Age UK, other suitable SMEs in the health services sector, particularly those focusing on aftercare and home support services, could potentially benefit from similar contracts or partnerships in the future. The procurement method does not involve a competitive tendering process, highlighting a streamlined approach for incumbents or qualified businesses capable of meeting stringent healthcare and independent living service demands. Such contracts can foster growth through enhancing service delivery capacities and participating in community health campaigns.
