Summary of the contracting process

The Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is preparing to award a contract under the Healthcare Services Provider Selection Regime (PSR) for the provision of optometry services. This award notice, dated 16 March 2026, signals the Trust's intention to contract with Forensic Eyecare Limited, pending the completion of the standstill period concluding on 26 March 2026. The focus of this procurement involves health services to be delivered at Rampton Hospital, Arnold Lodge, and Wathwood Hospital in Nottinghamshire. The contract value is approximated at £125,922.54, with services projected to commence on 1 April 2026 and run through to 31 March 2029. Although the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 are not applicable, decision-makers from Nottinghamshire Healthcare Forensic Care Group have not identified any conflicts of interest.

This procurement presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in healthcare services within secure hospital settings. Given the specific needs and challenges associated with the patient cohorts in these facilities, businesses with established expertise in optometry and experience in similar settings would be well-positioned to bid successfully. The rationale for awarding this contract without prior competition highlights a continuation of existing, satisfactory service provision, ensuring seamless delivery to the specified hospitals. The emphasis on reputation and existing relationships with patient cohorts will ensure businesses focusing on quality service provision and maintaining good patient relationships have a competitive edge in similar future opportunities.
