Summary of the contracting process

The Police and Crime Commissioner for Warwickshire, on behalf of Warwickshire Police, contracted for secure boarding and care of dangerous, seized, detained, safeguarded or evidential dogs and, at times, cats. Notice Description

The Police and Crime Commissioner for Warwickshire, on behalf of Warwickshire Police, has entered into a contract for the provision of Secure Boarding of Dangerous, Seized Dogs and Associated Services, following completion of the standstill period which commenced with the publication of Contract Award Notice reference 2026/S 000-077220 on 13 August 2026. The contract provides Warwickshire Police with a safe, secure, lawful, humane and responsive service for dogs and, on occasion, cats that are seized, detained, safeguarded, recovered or otherwise placed into police care. The service supports operational policing requirements, criminal investigations, animal welfare responsibilities and the administration of the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991. The services include secure boarding and welfare management of dangerous, seized and evidential animals; veterinary coordination and treatment; behavioural assessments; collection and transportation of animals; emergency incident response and call-out support; euthanasia and post-mortem arrangements where lawfully authorised; evidential and record management; and management information and contract performance reporting. The details of the supplier have been withheld under section 94(1)(a) of the Procurement Act 2023 on national security grounds, due to the sensitive nature of the site and activities undertaken on-site and to prevent potential disruption to police investigations. The stated values are estimates only. Actual expenditure may increase or decrease depending upon operational demand, legislative changes, seizure volumes, court outcomes, animal welfare requirements, inflationary pressures and future policing requirements.
