Summary of the contracting process

The Police and Crime Commissioner for Warwickshire is seeking to engage suppliers for a project titled "Secure Boarding of Dangerous and Seized Dogs." This tender falls within the services category and covers veterinary services, dog kennel services, and domestic animal nurseries. The project is located in Leek Wootton, United Kingdom. Currently, the procurement is at the planning stage, with a Request for Information due by 8th May 2026. The initiative is part of a preliminary market engagement to assess the availability of suppliers for an upcoming contract starting on 1st October 2026 and potentially lasting until 2030.

The tender presents a unique opportunity for businesses specialising in secure boarding and caring for dangerous or seized dogs. This sector is recognised as a niche market with limited competition, offering significant opportunities for growth, especially for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Interested suppliers are encouraged to demonstrate their expertise and readiness to provide these services, potentially gaining a foothold in a specialised area with a stable demand. Businesses capable of meeting the specific requirements of law enforcement and animal welfare will be particularly well-suited to compete for this contract.

Notice Description

Warwickshire Police has an ongoing requirement for Secure Boarding of Dangerous/Seized dogs and associated services. The current contract is due to expire in September 2026. Secure Boarding of Dangerous/Seized dogs is a niche market with relatively few providers. The Force has previously failed to identify enough suppliers to run a full competition. As such, prior to commencing a full procurement procedure, we wish to conduct a preliminary market engagement to assess if there have been any changes in the last 5 years and if sufficient providers exist that could tender for the requirement. We would therefore like to invite suppliers to provide a summary of their relevant experience in this field.
