Summary of the contracting process

The Broads (2006) Internal Drainage Board, located in Kings Lynn, Norfolk, has initiated a planned procurement process titled "Mautby Pump Supply," focusing on the design and supply of suspended bowl pumps as part of the Water Level Management Improvements (WLMI) project. This procurement falls under the goods category in the pump industry and is valued between £500,000 and £625,000, exclusive of VAT, for the initial site. There is a potential extension for a second site under similar financial terms. Turner & Townsend Contract Services Limited, based in Leeds, are advising on this process, which is currently in the planning stage with a tender period ending on 12th June 2026. The competitive open procurement method includes options for negotiation and best and final offers if necessary. The award decision is expected by 21st July 2026, with the contract commencing on 31st July 2026.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in efficient pump design and manufacturing. Firms equipped to deliver high-efficiency, low-maintenance solutions with Best Achievable Eel Protection (BAEP) features are well-suited to compete. The procurement supports capabilities in both the initial design and potential additional site, offering scope for expansion and future collaboration. Small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are particularly encouraged, with the contract valued to attract competitive interest and potentially stimulate growth within the sector. Successful bidders may gain further opportunities through the optional purchase of additional pumps if funding permits.
