Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process managed by the Broads (2006) Internal Drainage Board is currently at the tender stage for the "Mautby Trash Systems" project in the UK. The tender involves the design, supply, and delivery of a trash system to enhance the Mautby Water Level Management Improvements. An optional further site, Stokesby WLMI, may be awarded under a future contract. It falls within the sewerage works equipment industry category. The process follows an open procurement method using a competitive flexible procedure. Key dates include an inquiry period ending on 18th June 2026 and a final tender submission deadline on 1st July 2026. The project is located in the UKH1 region, and procurement advisors Turner & Townsend support the acquisition.

This tender represents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in sewerage works equipment, particularly those experienced with low-maintenance and efficient water management systems that can operate across varying water levels. It is particularly well-suited for small to medium enterprises (SMEs) capable of providing innovative and sustainable solutions, including Best Achievable Eel Protection. The contract value for the initial project stands at £175,000, with the possibility of matching this for the second site. Businesses that can demonstrate strong performance in quality, innovation, and competitive pricing can leverage this project to expand their market share within the public sector water management domain.

Notice Title

Mautby Trash Systems

Notice Description

This procurement covers the design, manufacture, fabrication, providing, supply and delivery of the trash system for Mautby Water Level Management Improvements (WLMI) project. It also allows the optionality of awarding a contract for one additional similar pumping station site namely Stokesby WLMI at a future date. The value is estimated at PS175,000 for the initial site with a further estimated PS175,000 for the additional site. These figures are exclusive of VAT. The trash system will have high efficiency, low maintenance requirements and will be able to operate over a broad range of water levels. The trash system will provide safe passage for eels and fish and deliver a Best Achievable Eel Protection (BAEP) solution that reduces the killing and injury of fish, thus improving downstream passage. The goods are: The design, manufacture, fabrication and supply of trash system for Mautby pumping station. The services are: Design, Testing and providing the required information for the Health and Safety File and Operations and Maintenance File. The Water Management Alliance (WMA) will oversee this procurement on behalf of the Broads Internal Drainage Board working with Turner & Townsend as advisors.
