Summary of the contracting process

The Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council has announced a procurement process for the "BikeAbility Programme," a programme aimed at enhancing cycling skills among children, with the objective of promoting active travel and support for climate agendas. This initiative falls under the "Social work and related services" category and targets the UKD region in the United Kingdom. The current procurement stage is in planning, aiming for the contract period to span from 1st November 2026 to 31st October 2029. The open competition procurement method has been selected for this below-threshold opportunity, providing a gross contract value of GBP 493,200. The planning notice related to this process was published on 19th May 2026, highlighting the programme's significance in fostering lifelong active habits in children.

The "BikeAbility Programme" presents significant business opportunities, particularly for service providers focused on educational programmes and those committed to promoting sustainable travel solutions. Companies specialising in community engagement, youth education, and those with expertise in executing government-funded projects could also find this tender advantageous. Given its emphasis on active travel, businesses with a background in health and fitness or environmental stewardship would also be well-suited to participate. This initiative not only aligns with public health objectives but also contributes to the government's broader climate emergency response, making it an attractive prospect for entities seeking to expand their footprint in public service delivery within the United Kingdom.
