The Integrated Care Board (ICB) is undertaking a market testing exercise to inform the future commissioning of a Community Non-Obstetric Ultrasound (NOUS) service.

Current Delivery Model:
The service is currently commissioned across the footprint and delivered by multiple providers in community settings, resulting in variation in access, pathways, reporting, and capacity.

Future Model Under Consideration:
The ICB is exploring potential options for the future commissioning of the Community Non-Obstetric Ultrasound service. At this stage, no final decision has been made. This market testing exercise is intended to understand provider appetite, capability, and the feasibility of different delivery approaches.
The models currently under consideration are:
Single Provider Model
A single organisation holds responsibility for delivering the full service across the entire footprint.
Lead Provider Model
One organisation holds the contract and takes overall accountability for the service, working with partner organisations or subcontractors to deliver services across the footprint.
Through this engagement, the ICB is seeking feedback on the viability, risks, benefits, and delivery considerations associated with each model to inform future procurement strategy.
