Summary of the contracting process

The London Borough of Hackney is currently in the planning stage of a tender process for the provision of overnight care for disabled children. This is a part of their Short Breaks and Disabled Children's Support Services Framework for 2026. The procurement is focused on health and social work services within North East London, specifically around the UKI41 region, and the tender is valued at approximately £13.36 million. A virtual market engagement event is scheduled for 28th May 2026, as part of their ongoing efforts to engage with potential service providers. Key deadlines include registration to attend the event by midday on 27th May 2026. This engagement is critical as it aims to foster partnerships that promote quality care based on person-centred planning, aligning with statutory duties outlined in key legislation like the Children Act 1989.

This tender represents a significant opportunity for businesses within the health and social care sectors to collaborate with the local authority and contribute to improving outcomes for disabled children in Hackney. Organisations with expertise in providing high-quality, Ofsted-registered care services are well-positioned to compete, with a focus on those who are already compliant or can achieve compliance within the required timeframes. The procurement process favours small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and independent sector organisations due to the localised nature of the services. Engaging in this framework can enhance business reputations, expand service offerings, and strengthen community ties through committed and collaborative work in the social care sector.
