Summary of the contracting process

The London Borough of Hackney is procuring passenger transport services for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities, looked-after children and vulnerable adults. This opportunity suits established passenger transport operators with experience delivering passenger transport or similar services, particularly providers able to organise minibuses, people carriers, taxis and passenger assistants. All drivers and passenger assistants must have comprehensive, current safeguarding training and be able to provide safe, punctual and professional care for vulnerable service users. Operators must maintain high operational standards and demonstrate suitable economic and technical capability. Every vehicle and operator must comply with Transport for London taxi licensing and emissions requirements. Suppliers must also progressively transition their fleets towards lower-emission alternatives, with the council aiming to maximise battery-powered vehicles. Both lots are identified as suitable for small and medium-sized enterprises, and the framework structure may provide opportunities for multiple appointed providers.
