Summary of the contracting process

The Centre for Process Innovation Limited, situated in Redcar, UK, initiated a public procurement process titled "Intelligent Cleanroom Control System Energy Savings" under a direct award procurement model. The procurement aims to implement a proprietary energy-efficient cleanroom control system using real-time sensors to optimize air handling unit settings within cleanrooms, which will reduce electrical consumption and provide financial savings. The contract, valued at £360,000 with a net amount of £300,000, was awarded to Energy Efficiency Consultancy Ltd, located in Macclesfield, and officially announced on 22nd June 2026. The contract period is set from 24th June 2026 to 23rd June 2031. However, a tender cancellation notice followed in July 2026, indicating changes in the procurement process status.

This procurement project presents significant growth opportunities for businesses specialising in energy-efficiency consultancy services, particularly those capable of developing or supplying proprietary systems like the Intelligent Cleanroom Control System (ICCS). Companies with expertise in real-time sensor technology and energy management in controlled environments would find this project particularly suitable. The partnership with CPI, a public undertaking, demonstrates a lucrative opportunity for large-scale service providers to engage in long-term contracts where energy savings are shared equitably, offering both environmental and economic benefits.

Notice Title

Intelligent Cleanroom Control System Energy Savings

Notice Description

The ICCS is a proprietary system provided by EECO2 under a partnership agreement with MMIC . The system uses a combination of real-time sensors within the MMIC Cleanrooms to over-ride the BMS settings and control the associated AHUs (air handling units). The intent is to reduce the number of room air changes from a fixed number (regardless of occupancy/room conditions) to an optimal number to retain ISO8 conditions. With fewer air changes energy to drive the AHUs is reduced, leading to lower electricity consumption (and thus financial benefit). The EECO2 agreement shares this benefit on an equal basis, with EECO2 invoicing CPI for their share of the savings.
