Summary of the contracting process

Staffordshire County Council is in the planning stage for a procurement process titled "Preliminary Market Engagement (PME) for Care Homes Services for Adults aged 18 and over." This process is focused on the health and social work services industry category, specifically for residential and nursing care. The consultation is scheduled from 9th July 2026 to 3rd September 2026 and aims to engage market feedback on a proposed pricing strategy. The location for delivery is in the West Midlands, UK, and the Council intends to begin the formal tender process potentially by late 2026 or early 2027. The procurement is significant, and above the threshold, with opportunities for small and medium enterprises as well as voluntary, community and social enterprises.

This procurement process represents a substantial opportunity for businesses in the healthcare sector, specifically those providing residential and nursing care services. The proposed framework agreement is open to a variety of organisations, including SMEs and VCSEs, seeking to expand their operations. Participating in the preliminary market engagement can provide valuable insights and influence on the final pricing strategy, making it advantageous for potential suppliers to contribute. Successful tenderers will secure a contract that spans from 2027 to 2031, with possible extensions up to 2035, thus providing long-term business growth and stability. This process encourages market collaboration and adaptation to the needs of the public sector's evolving requirements in care provision.
