Notice Title

Clean Air Hospital

Notice Description

Birmingham City Council (the Council) is seeking to appoint an organisation to develop and support the implementation of a Clean Air Action Plan at two Birmingham hospitals: Women's & Children's. People with existing health conditions are among the groups most vulnerable to the harmful effects of air pollution. As these individuals are more likely to visit healthcare facilities, it is essential that these environments maintain good air quality and that healthcare professionals are equipped to provide advice on air pollution. There is a requirement to develop and support the implementation of a Clean Air Action Plan at two Birmingham hospitals: Women's & Children's. Both hospitals will be supported to use the Clean Air Hospital Framework (a tool free of charge) to: * Collaborate with the trust's sustainability team, engaging stakeholders elsewhere to determine the baseline level of progress with the tool, that can then be used for future self-assessments to track and communicate progress * Present the baseline and subsequent action plan to stakeholder groups in pre-existing forums or in a standalone strategy masterclass * Develop robust Clean Air Action Plans by assessing current performance, identifying the barriers to progress and the actions that will further support cleaner air * Establish governance structures to ensure actions are implemented and sustained. * A team of approximately three Birmingham health professionals will also be identified as Ambassadors for Clean Air and will be mobilised at key opportunities e.g. comms on the Birmingham CAZ/local/national clean air policy or on Clean Air Day/Night. * Begin implementing their clean air action plans, starting with priority actions. The contract for services will commence 1st September 2026 and will be in place for a period of 1 year, 6 months.
