Summary of the contracting process

Bristol City Council is initiating a procurement process at the planning stage with a focus on the industry category of health and social work services. The council seeks expressions of interest for a service designed to support families in crisis or those impacted by care proceedings and child removal, within the UKK11 region, specifically Bristol. The planning details include a milestone for expressions of interest due by 18th August 2026 via the ProContract portal, and the full tentative contract period spans from 1st April 2027 to 31st March 2030. The procurement follows a light-touch regime, focusing on service delivery and improvement of life outcomes for families with complex needs.

This procurement presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in social services. Organisations with a robust volunteer base in Bristol and experience in handling complex family needs will find this tender particularly appealing. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), as well as voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs), are considered suitable to bid. The service aims to reduce the need for social care involvement and mitigate the number of children entering care, aligning with Bristol City Council’s objectives to enhance family welfare and support community stability.
