Summary of the contracting process

The Care Quality Commission intends to procure Experts by Experience services across England. The service will provide trained members of the public to support CQC assessments of regulated health and care services and to improve understanding of the quality of care across those services. This is a health and social work service, covering activity in the English regions from the North East, North West and Yorkshire and the Humber through the East Midlands, West Midlands, East of England, London, South East and South West. The requirement is for organisations able to recruit, prepare, coordinate and support people with relevant personal experience so that they can contribute effectively to assessments of regulated health and care provision.

This procurement is at the planning stage: the buyer has announced an intention to procure, but has not invited tenders. The expected sourcing route is a competitive flexible procedure. It is planned as one lot, with an estimated contract period from 2 April 2029 to 1 April 2032. The estimated value is £7.5 million excluding VAT, or £9 million including VAT. The buyer expects the next notice to be published on 1 December 2027. The planned lot is marked as suitable for small and medium-sized enterprises and voluntary, community and social enterprises.
