Cadent Gas Limited is reviewing waste management services for its operational estate across networks in the North West, East Midlands, West Midlands, East of England and London. The requirement is expected to cover collection, transportation, treatment, recycling and disposal of a range of waste streams. Likely service elements include general and hazardous waste management, recycling, skip hire, waste containers, compliance reporting, sustainability initiatives and carbon reporting. Cadent is considering a network-aligned structure in which one supplier would manage all waste management services within a geographical network. This process is at the planning and preliminary market engagement stage, rather than a call for competition. Cadent is seeking supplier feedback to shape its future procurement strategy and understand capability, capacity and appetite for different delivery models. The engagement documentation is available by email, with responses expected by 11 August 2026. The future contract is expected to run from 1 June 2027 to 31 May 2032. Cadent is considering separate geographical network lots, with suppliers potentially able to bid for one or multiple networks. Standardised key performance indicators, service levels, reporting and compliance requirements are expected across awarded suppliers. Engagement responses will inform planning and will not be used to evaluate future tender bids.

This will suit waste management providers with the operational capacity to deliver regional or multi-regional services across Cadent’s estate. Relevant experience is likely to include managing both general and hazardous waste, collection and transport logistics, treatment, recycling, disposal, skip hire and container provision. Suppliers should be prepared to demonstrate reliable service delivery across a network, with the systems and resources to manage standardised performance measures, service levels, compliance reporting and sustainability outcomes. Capability in carbon reporting and practical waste reduction or recycling initiatives will be relevant. Businesses with established supply chains, suitable facilities, regulatory compliance arrangements and sufficient fleet, people and operational resilience should use the engagement to explain which delivery models and network coverage they can support.

Cadent is reviewing its Waste Management Services arrangements ahead of the expiry of its current contract in 2027. As part of this process, Cadent is seeking market feedback to inform the development of its future procurement strategy and better understand supplier capability, capacity and appetite for different delivery models. The future requirement is expected to include the collection, transportation, treatment, recycling and disposal of a range of waste streams across Cadent's operational estate. Services are likely to cover general and hazardous waste management, recycling, skip hire, waste containers, compliance reporting, sustainability initiatives and carbon reporting. Cadent is considering a network-aligned lotting structure, whereby a single supplier would be appointed to each geographical network and be responsible for all waste management services within that region. Suppliers may have the opportunity to bid for one or multiple networks. Standardised KPIs, SLAs, reporting and compliance requirements would apply across all awarded suppliers. Through this engagement, Cadent is seeking views on the proposed operating model, supplier capacity to deliver regional or multi-regional services, and approaches to performance measurement, reporting and sustainability outcomes. Responses will be used solely to support market assessment and procurement strategy development and will not form part of any future tender evaluation. This is NOT a call for competition.
