Summary of the contracting process

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust procured on-site outpatient gynaecology insourcing services for NHS patients. The requirement covers first outpatient appointments and outpatient hysteroscopy procedures, delivered as direct clinical care on Trust sites. Its purpose is to reduce waiting times across gynaecology pathways by adding short-term outpatient clinical capacity. This is a healthcare service requirement rather than a supply, construction or general consultancy opportunity. The buying organisation is University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust, based in Southampton. The service is therefore relevant to providers able to mobilise clinical teams and deliver outpatient gynaecology activity within NHS premises, working directly with the Trust’s patient pathways and operational arrangements.

The procurement is complete and the contract was awarded to Intersource Medical Services Ltd. The award date is not separately recorded, but the contract was signed on 9 July 2026. It runs from 4 July 2026 to 3 October 2026 and has a value of £192,000. The award was made as a non-competitive call-off from the NHS SBS Insourcing of Clinical Support Services framework, using the Provider Selection Regime for healthcare services, without a prior call for competition. The framework terms set the evaluation basis as cost, weighted at 100%. The planned monthly activity was 160 first outpatient appointments and 80 outpatient hysteroscopies. One bid was recorded. The award and contract are active.

This award shows demand from University Hospital Southampton for external clinical capacity in outpatient gynaecology, particularly first appointments and hysteroscopies used to reduce pathway waiting times. A credible future competitor would need a specialist gynaecology service capable of providing both assessment appointments and outpatient procedures, with clinicians, nursing and support staff available at the required scale. It would also need to operate safely and efficiently on NHS Trust sites, integrate with existing patient pathways, and manage short-term mobilisation without disrupting frontline services. Relevant experience would include delivering directly to NHS patients, coordinating procedure capacity with Trust teams, and maintaining consistent throughput across different outpatient activities. The successful supplier was an SME, indicating that specialist providers with focused clinical delivery capability can compete through the relevant framework route.
