Summary of the contracting process

NHS Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire Integrated Care Board bought ADHD and autism assessment and treatment services for children, young people and adults in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire. The service covers assessment and diagnosis, with post-diagnostic support for people diagnosed with autism, including signposting to local organisations. For patients diagnosed with ADHD who want medication, the provider titrates treatment and provides follow-up appointments until the dose is stabilised. It then either continues prescribing and reviewing the patient or transfers care to their GP where the practice participates in the local shared-care service. The requirement is specialist mental health care, specifically psychiatric or psychological assessment and treatment services.

The procurement is complete and was awarded to ADHD360 Limited. The buyer used Direct Award Process B under the Provider Selection Regime, in line with Right to Choose requirements; one bid was recorded. The stated award basis was patient choice, weighted at 100%, with price weighted at 0%. The contract runs from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2027, with no extension provision in the stated term. The contract is activity-based and has no guaranteed value. The recorded contract value is £0.01. The award decision was dated 9 October 2026. The buyer and Gloucestershire ICB were working in a formal clustering arrangement ahead of a planned merger into a single organisation effective 1 April 2027.

This award shows demand from the Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire ICB for a single service spanning ADHD and autism assessments for both younger and adult patients, alongside treatment after diagnosis. A credible future provider would need to deliver assessment and diagnosis across these patient groups, manage ADHD medication titration and follow-up through to a stable dose, and provide ongoing prescribing and review or handover to participating GP practices. Autism-related post-diagnostic support, including effective signposting to local organisations, is also within scope. The recorded selection was based entirely on patient choice rather than price, so suppliers competing for this requirement need to demonstrate a service that supports patients’ ability to choose their provider. Delivery is activity-based, making the ability to accommodate variable patient demand commercially relevant.
