Summary of the contracting process

The Cardiff Council is seeking contractors for the "Framework for Responsive Repairs to Domestic Properties" project, which falls under the works category and is primarily focused on general public services and health. The procurement process is currently at the award stage, with the contract having been signed on 19th December 2021. This framework entails ongoing maintenance for a portfolio consisting of approximately 13,723 properties, addressing various responsive repair needs in the Cardiff region. Each contractor selected will cover a designated area, with an estimated annual value of £2 million (£1 million per contractor), supporting the Council's in-house workforce by carrying out work outside their capacity, especially in specialist areas like asbestos removal.

This tender presents significant growth opportunities for SMEs in the construction and maintenance sectors, particularly those with capabilities in responsive repairs, plumbing, electrical, and related fields. Businesses with expertise in urgent and emergency responses, as well as those able to manage diverse trades like roofing, gas, or fire safety compliance, will be well-suited to apply. The ability to operate under a framework agreement and collaborate effectively with a public authority will enhance prospects for ongoing engagement, given the scale and nature of the work involved in this contract.
