Evaluation of Council Tax Interventions
Notice Description
Over the Fifth Senedd Term, the Welsh Government introduced four interventions to mitigate the impact of council tax liabilities on vulnerable people and households and to improve the management of council tax collection. The focus of this research will be to evaluate the implementation and likely impact of the four interventions, namely:- Standardisation of the approach to disregarding council tax liability for people with a severe mental impairment (SMI);- Introduction of legislation to exempt care leavers (up to the age of 25) from paying council tax;- Publication of the Council Tax Protocol for Wales;- Removal of the sanction of imprisonment for non-payment of council tax.'
