Notice Title

Quote for supply of Gwent Levels Carbon Storage Review

Notice Description

Carbon storage in landscapes is an important factor in mitigating climate change. Trees, plants, and soils all store carbon, and the amount of carbon stored in a landscape can vary depending on the type of vegetation, soil type, and land use. Estimating carbon storage can help us to understand the role of landscapes in the carbon cycle and to identify opportunities for carbon sequestration. We want to better understand the current carbon storage capacity of the Gwent Levels, how this is influenced by current land management, and how it could be increased through changes in management or land use.The purpose of this project is to estimate the carbon storage potential of the Gwent Levels. This will involve assessing the amount of carbon currently stored in vegetation, soils, and other natural features, and producing recommendations for how this could be increased. The results of the project will be used to inform strategies for climate change mitigation and adaptation. The scope of work for this project will include the following:* Desktop review of relevant literature and data.* Data collection using remote sensing analysis.* Data analysis and modelling to estimate carbon storage.* Preparation of a report summarising the findings of the project, including a visual presentation of the data.Services* To produce a report summarising the findings of the project.* To produce a detailed carbon storage map of the landscape.* To provide recommendations for strategies to enhance carbon storage.* To provide recommendations for the potential for local carbon offsetting/insetting schemes.NOTE: To register your interest in this notice and obtain any additional information please visit the Sell2Wales Web Site at https://www.sell2wales.gov.wales/Search/Search_Switch.aspx?ID=147433.The buyer has indicated that it will accept electronic responses to this notice via the Postbox facility.
