Summary of the contracting process

The public procurement process, led by Amgueddfa Cymru - National Museum Wales, focuses on the provision and installation of a new Electronic Point of Sale (EPOS) system, encompassing hardware and software support. The intended industry category is goods, specifically targeting electrical machinery, point of sale software and retail trade services. Located in Cardiff, Wales, the contracting authority aims to have the new system in place by 1st April 2026, as the current contract is due to expire in March 2026. The procurement is presently at the planning stage, with the process initiated for tender.

This tender presents substantial opportunities for businesses specialising in EPOS solutions, particularly those capable of offering scalable and flexible systems. Companies that provide agile handheld and fixed EPOS solutions with robust reporting and stock management capabilities will find this tender particularly fitting. With retail and food and beverage outlets poised for growth, the new system is key to supporting increased turnover and diverse income streams. Such procurement could be attractive to providers adept in integrating EPOS systems with financial and stock inventory management, suitable for organisations looking to enhance their market presence in the cultural and heritage sector.
