Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process undertaken by Careers Wales involves the refurbishment of the ground floor at the Barry Careers Centre, situated at 49 Holton Rd, Barry CF63 4HF. As a body governed by public law, Careers Wales is positioned in Cardiff, CF10 2HH, and is engaging in an open procurement method focusing on construction work. The contract has now progressed to the award stage, with Manning Construction Limited appointed as the supplier after the tender period which ended on 10th December 2025. This initiative falls under the 'works' procurement category, with key project dates indicating that construction commenced in December 2025 and completion was targeted for early February 2026.

This tender presents notable opportunities for businesses specialising in construction, particularly those experienced in site preparation, building installation, and completion work. It notably caters to companies capable of delivering a comprehensive refurbishment project including installation of partitions, internal decoration, and various mechanical and electrical works. Businesses with a robust adherence to health and safety regulations can successfully compete in this environment, as stringent CDM 2015 compliance is required. The involvement of expert asbestos surveyors and efficient project managers would be advantageous due to health risks associated with the site. The project's scale demands experienced contractors who can manage logistics and site security, ensuring a well-coordinated and safe refurbishment process.
