Summary of the contracting process

The North Lanarkshire Council is conducting the Garden Assistance Scheme 2017-2020 to provide gardening services for participants unable to maintain their gardens due to age or infirmity. The procurement process is currently complete, with services divided into two geographic Lots: Lot 1 for the North Zone and Lot 2 for the South Zone, where substantial capacities in terms of grass cutting, hedge cutting, and weed control have been projected. The contract was awarded on 17 February 2017, following an open procedure which allows for visibility and access to a wide array of potential suppliers. The primary location for the service delivery is North Lanarkshire, with a value of approximately £3,280,000 across the two Lots. The relevant documentation for bidders is accessible via electronic submission.

This tender presents considerable opportunities for businesses specialising in landscaping and maintenance services, particularly those with the capability to manage substantial contracts across multiple geographic areas. Companies that possess the requisite operational capacity, experience in tendering for similar services, and the ability to comply with health and safety regulations would be well-suited to compete. The framework allows for three service providers to be appointed per Lot, fostering competitive conditions that could benefit smaller local firms while supporting community employment initiatives.
