Summary of the contracting process

The East Ayrshire Council is seeking a contractor for the "Provision of a Planned and Reactive Property Maintenance Service," aimed at managing maintenance for non-domestic properties across the East Ayrshire region, including schools and offices. This procurement falls within the 'services' sector and was initiated through a selective procurement method, specifically a restricted procedure. The contract was formally awarded on 11 July 2017, with an anticipated annual value of £2 million and no guaranteed workload. Contractors are expected to provide an electronic interface with the Council's software, Technology Forge, and adhere to specific quality assurance and environmental management standards.

This contract presents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in property maintenance and repair services, particularly those experienced with both planned and reactive maintenance work. Companies that provide multi-trade capabilities, including joinery, plumbing, electrical services, and general building works are well-suited to compete. The expected demand for approximately 1,000 planned and 3,000 reactive works annually identifies a consistent potential workload, beneficial for contractors looking to expand their operations in the public sector.
