Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process titled "Provision of 3rd Party Waste Tankering – Horizons" was conducted by Scottish Water, a key organisation in the water industry, located in Stepps, Glasgow. The tender aimed to secure contractors for the tankering of non-hazardous sludges from commercial and industrial clients, with an estimated contract value of £4,000,000. This selective procurement method employed a negotiated procedure following a prior call for competition. The tender was active with a deadline for submissions on 24th May 2017. The framework for this contract includes an initial term of 2 years, with potential extensions of up to 2 additional years.

This tender presents significant opportunities for SMEs already engaged in waste management and environmental services, particularly those specialising in waste tankering and transport. Businesses that can demonstrate compliance with environmental regulations, possess the necessary fleet capabilities, and have a proven track record in handling non-hazardous waste will be well-suited to compete. In addition, companies that align with Scottish Water’s commitment to ethical supply chain practices will have a competitive edge in this tendering process.
