The Moray Council are going out to Tender to appoint a suitably qualified, competent and experienced contractor to Maintain and Repair Lift Plant in the Moray area. The Council has a number of buildings across the estate which contains passenger lifts, wheelchair lifts, dumb waiter and hoists. Nine of the lifts listed have been replaced during the last 5 years. Purpose of the Specification Under the following regulations the Council has a duty of care to ensure the safe operation of lifts: - European Standard EN 81- 1 The object of this standard is to define safety rules related to passenger- and goods/passenger-lifts with a view to safeguarding persons and objects against the risk of accidents associated with the user-, maintenance- and emergency operation of lifts - Regulation 9 of the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER) requires that all lifts provided for use in work activities are thoroughly examined by a competent person at regular intervals. This applies to lifts and hoists used to lift people or loads.
