Alliance Wines are the only Scottish based wine producer, importer and distributor with their own bonded facilities in Ayrshire employing local staff. All stock comes directly by sea to Grangemouth massively reducing carbon footprint. All other supplier's goods come by road from London so the carbon footprint by comparison is far higher for every bottle. - They have an exclusive relationship with all their suppliers with complete control of their supply chain. Their primary market is trade with zero exposure in national or supermarket chains and have two Master of Wine qualified directors creating wines which are customised to suit each individual customer. All sales personnel are WSET diploma qualified. -A local supplier with no minimum case order. They have scheduled deliveries 5 days a week and 6 during August and December with their own in house fleet of vans ensuring delivery commitments are always met. -Their location and ability to offer deliveries in smaller quantities on a more or less daily basis is critical for the University's business requirements and is not provided by any other supplier. The University needs to enable all of our many locations to order wine in smaller volumes for functions which occur throughout the year and this level of availability with no minimum order is essential for our requirements. -Biodynamic farming practices are utilised which promote biodiversity and many suppliers use organic farming practices. Where possible livestock, birds and insects are used in place of tractors and herbicides. Waste water is recycled and natural grass is used between vines to regulate soil moisture and yields. -Alliance source 1200 wines from various countries with prices ranging from GBP4 to GBP500 a bottle. These wines cannot be sourced from any other supplier. They own vineyards in Australia and work with many SME growers in Australia, Spain, Chile, Italy and elsewhere which is unique for a Scottish company of this size. -They are the most sustainable supplier in the market only delivering ecologically and ethically clean wines. They do not engage in branding or marketing ensuring all value goes back into the production cycle and not on advertising. The major suppliers are unable to work with and support small growers or producers in this way as their business models do not involve these types of relationships. Alliance employ 72 people in Scotland and have been working in Scotland for 33 years.

They work with many small family producers who support their villages with providing accommodation, education and health care. It is company policy to always pay a fair price for their wine agreed with the producers so their business model is sustainable and supplier friendly unlike the bigger companies and major suppliers who prioritise profits to the potential detriment of the producers and the environment and then move on. They only work with suppliers who can demonstrate fair work practices and work with nature in the least invasive and disruptive way. (SC Ref:499845)",
