Summary of the contracting process

East Lothian Council is seeking to establish a housing framework that involves main contractors for new build construction works in East Lothian, UK. The procurement process is currently in the award stage, following the open tender procedure initiated on 29th January 2018. The framework is designed for a maximum period of four years, comprising an initial two years with potential extensions of two additional one-year periods. Key deadlines include a successful contract signing that took place on 29th January 2018, as well as a project code that highlights the intention to reinforce local economic engagement.

This procurement opportunity is ideal for construction firms, particularly those specialising in housing projects, who can demonstrate capacity, financial stability, and relevant experience. Businesses that focus on delivering general public services and possess necessary accreditations in quality, environmental management, and health & safety are encouraged to participate, especially as the council prioritises the engagement of local subcontractors. Potential contractors should also be prepared to adhere to community benefit requirements to foster economic development in the region.
