Summary of the contracting process

East Lothian Council is seeking to establish a housing framework that involves main contractors for new build construction works in East Lothian, UK. The procurement process is currently in the award stage, following the open tender procedure initiated on 29th January 2018. The framework is designed for a maximum period of four years, comprising an initial two years with potential extensions of two additional one-year periods. Key deadlines include a successful contract signing that took place on 29th January 2018, as well as a project code that highlights the intention to reinforce local economic engagement.

This procurement opportunity is ideal for construction firms, particularly those specialising in housing projects, who can demonstrate capacity, financial stability, and relevant experience. Businesses that focus on delivering general public services and possess necessary accreditations in quality, environmental management, and health & safety are encouraged to participate, especially as the council prioritises the engagement of local subcontractors. Potential contractors should also be prepared to adhere to community benefit requirements to foster economic development in the region.

"description": "Police Scotland and East Lothian Council recognise that there is an opportunity for unscrupulous, criminal or corrupt persons and criminal enterprises to be involved in criminality and to make criminal financial gains from the supply of equipment and from the provision of services to public funded bodies. Police Scotland and East Lothian Council recognise that the provision of information by Police Scotland may assist in determining whether any of the conditions for exclusion of an organisation from the opportunity to tender for a public contract specified in the Public Contracts (Scotland) Regulations 2015 have been met. East Lothian Council (ELC) understand the importance of a strong local economy and therefore require that main contractors awarded ELC contracts consider engaging local sub-contractors where possible. For any assistance with this requirement please contact Economic Development Department at economicdevelopment@eastlothian.gov.uk. Any tenderers requiring assistance/guidance on completing these documents should also contact economicdevelopment@eastlothian.gov.uk As part of this tender process therefore, details provided in the tender by all bidders will be passed to Police Scotland to be verified.
