Notice Title

Supply of 12-off HT keel coolers and 12-off LT keel coolers to fit Volvo-Penta D9 MH engines

Notice Description

Supply of 12-off HT keel coolers and 12-off LT keel coolers compatible with Volvo-Penta D9 MH engines each rated at 261kW (crankshaft power) at 1800 rpm

Lot Information

Lot 1

As a result of the replacement of main engines on six vessels, each with two main engines, there is a requirement to fit keel coolers. The new main engines will be the same for all ships, and will be Volvo-Penta D9 MH engines each rated at 261 kW (crankshaft power) at 1800 rpm. As this particular engine type has a 2-circuit keel cooling requirement, one-off High Temperature (HT) keel cooler, and one-off Low Temperature (LT) keel cooler will be required for each engine. Based on this we would therefore require 12-off HT keel coolers and 12-off LT keel coolers for this project. Please see the following design criteria and information. Engine Information - Engine Type: Main Propulsion - Engine Manufacturer: Volvo Penta - Model D9 MH - Rating: 261 kW crankshaft power @ 1800 RPM - Engine Age: New Reduction Gear Information - Make & Model of Gear: Unknown - the gear oil cooling will be included in the LT circuit, so an additional 10.4 kW of heat dissipation capability will need to be included in the L.T. Keel Cooler for gear oil cooling. Vessel Information - Type of Vessel: Ferry - Hull Construction: Steel Painted - Vessel's maximum hull speed at full rated power when undertaking the crossing: 8.5 knots. - Vessel's minimum hull speed when manoeuvring into and away from the slipway: 0-1 knots. Note: At zero vessel speed Voith Propeller will still be rotating causing flow pass the keel cooler. - Keel coolers to be attached to ship's hull as part of a small cofferdam Installation. Environmental Conditions - Maximum Sea Water Temp: 18degC For the H.T. Keel Cooler - Heat to be dissipated by each keel cooler circuit: To be Confirmed by Keel Cooler Manufacturer in their Quotation submission. - Flow rate of freshwater and Volvo Penta Coolant VCS (yellow) in each keel cooler circuit: 156 L/min. (Mix: 40% conc. Volvo Penta coolant and 60% water). - Keel cooler outlet temperature: Held at 65degC. - New keel cooler to fit into a 4,500 mm x 400 mm area of the existing hull plating. Other sizes can be proposed for consideration. - Keel cooler manufacturer to advise pressure drop across keel cooler. To be no greater than 3.5 m head H2O. - Keel Cooler fouling margin: 15% For the L.T. Keel Cooler - Heat to be dissipated by each keel cooler circuit: To be Confirmed by Keel Cooler Manufacturer in their Quotation submission and to include for gear oil cooling (see Reduction Gear Information above). - Flow rate of freshwater and Volvo Penta Coolant VCS (yellow) in each keel cooler circuit: 210 L/min max. (Mix: 20% conc. Volvo Penta coolant and 80%water). - Keel cooler outlet temperature: Held at 35degC. - New keel cooler to fit into a 4,500 mm x 400 mm area of the existing hull plating. Other sizes can be proposed for consideration. - Keel cooler manufacturer to advise pressure drop across keel cooler. To be no greater than 5.0 m head H2O. - Keel Cooler fouling margin: 15%.
